Mercedes-Benz has introduced the AMG G 63 Offroad Pro in India at Rs. 3.80 crore (ex-showroom). This limited edition adds more off-road technology and expedition-focused equipment to the G 63 lineup. The company has not revealed how many units will be available in India, but the edition will be offered in limited numbers.
Powerful Twin-Turbo V8 Engine
Power comes from the familiar 3,982 cc handcrafted twin-turbo V8 engine. It produces 585 hp and 850 Nm of peak torque and is paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. An integrated starter generator adds up to 15 kW of assistance at lower engine speeds.
The AMG Performance 4Matic system sends power to all four wheels. Despite the extra equipment and stronger focus on off-road driving, the G 63 Offroad Pro remains extremely quick. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 240 kmph.
Off-Road Focused Cockpit
Mercedes-Benz has made several changes to the cockpit to make it more useful when driving away from paved roads. The 12.3-inch displays can show a range of terrain-related information, including the vehicle’s position, compass direction, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure, tyre temperature and differential lock status.
The SUV also gets a Transparent Hood function. When selected through the off-road menu, the camera system shows the area directly ahead of the front axle on the display. This can help the driver judge obstacles and the terrain in front of the vehicle.
Advanced Suspension And Traction Technology
Much of the Offroad Pro’s extra capability comes from its chassis technology. The SUV uses AMG active suspension with hydraulic roll stabilisation and adaptive damping.
AMG Active Balance Control allows the driver to adjust roll stiffness through three stages in the off-road driving programmes. This gives the driver more control over how the SUV responds to different surfaces.
AMG Traction Pro is available in Rock and Sand modes. The system manages braking torque independently at each wheel to improve traction. Seven selectable locking levels allow the driver to adjust the setup depending on the terrain. This can be particularly useful when the SUV gets stuck in deep sand.
Expedition Equipment And Exterior Changes
The Offroad Pro edition also brings equipment aimed at longer outdoor trips. A roof luggage rack uses continuous aluminium panels and comes with a removable rear ladder for easier access.
The SUV rides on unique 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke alloy wheels. They feature a matte black finish with diamond-turned rim flanges and are wrapped in 275/50 R20 tyres.
AMG-specific bumpers and flared wheel arches add to the rugged appearance. The familiar upright G-Class bodywork remains at the centre of the design, keeping the model instantly recognisable.
Premium Interior With Updated Technology
Inside, the G 63 Offroad Pro gets Nappa leather upholstery along with configurable ambient lighting. Mercedes-Benz has also equipped it with the latest MBUX NTG7 infotainment system.
Both the digital driver display and central multimedia screen measure 12.3 inches. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included, along with USB-C connectivity and augmented-reality navigation.
The SUV also features a Burmester 3D Surround Sound System with 18 speakers and 760W of output. Mercedes-Benz has added acoustic glass and extra insulation to help keep the cabin quieter.

Safety And Driver Assistance
The safety package includes Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera. Additional driver assistance features are available as part of the technology package.
With its upgraded suspension, AMG Traction Pro system and expedition equipment, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro adds a more specialised character to the G 63 lineup while retaining the powerful V8 performance and familiar G-Class design.
