The new Honda Elevate, set to launch on 6 October, will get a few noticeable updates to its exterior. Honda’s teasers have only shown bits and pieces so far, but there could already be a clue about the changes. The updated Elevate appears to take inspiration from a concept showcased in Japan earlier this year.
Honda sells the India-made Elevate in Japan as the WR-V. At the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, the company showcased a customised version called the WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept as part of a series of TrailSport HRC models. Interestingly, some of the design elements from that concept appear to have made their way onto the facelifted Elevate.
The biggest change at the front is expected to be the new radiator grille. It appears to share the same hexagonal mesh pattern and gloss black finish seen on the WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept. Three horizontal LED light strips sit along the upper edge of the grille and visually link the daytime running lights. The setup gives the front end a more distinctive look compared with the full-width light bars seen on many newer cars.
Honda has also moved the logo onto the bonnet, following a similar approach with the City earlier this year. However, unlike the sedan, the Elevate appears to retain its existing headlamps and front bumper.
At the rear, the changes are more subtle. Honda has extended the illuminated portion of the tail lights further inward, making the light signature look wider. The overall shape of the rear combination lamps, however, appears to remain unchanged since the extra illumination uses space already available within the existing lens design. This update also seems to have been inspired by the WR-V TrailSport HRC Concept.
Honda Elevate Facelift Interior And Features
Changes inside the cabin are expected to be limited. One of the more notable additions could be a factory-fitted ambient lighting system, which was not available on the outgoing Elevate. Honda could also bring updated trim and upholstery options to give the cabin a fresher feel.
The facelifted SUV is also expected to get ventilated front seats, which should be a welcome addition, especially in warmer parts of the country. Power adjustment for the driver’s seat could also be offered, while a panoramic sunroof is expected to join the feature list.
Honda Elevate Facelift Engine And Price
Under the skin, however, the Elevate is likely to remain unchanged. It should continue with the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, producing 119 hp and 145 Nm of torque. The engine is expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a CVT automatic.
Prices for the updated Honda Elevate are expected to start at just under Rs. 12 lakh, ex-showroom. More details, including the full feature list and pricing, should be revealed when Honda officially launches the facelift on 6 October.
