Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in India at Rs 3.35 crore (ex-showroom). The new model arrives in the S 580e guise and marks the first time a Maybach in India gets a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

For the first batch, Mercedes-Benz has allocated just 30 units for the Indian market. The Maybach S 580e is also around Rs 97 lakh more expensive than the S-Class Manufaktur Edition AMG Line, which was introduced a couple of months ago.

2026 Mercedes-Maybach S 580e: Powertrain And Charging

The biggest change is under the bonnet. The outgoing 4.0-litre V8 has been replaced by a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine producing 443hp and 560Nm. It works with a 160hp electric motor producing 480Nm and a 22kWh battery pack.

Combined output stands at 585hp and 750Nm, with power sent to all four wheels as standard. The Maybach S 580e can travel up to 98km on electric power alone, while its top speed in EV mode is limited to 140kph. Mercedes-Benz claims a WLTP-certified fuel efficiency figure of 34.48kpl.

The car gets three main drive modes: Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold. The energy recuperation system can also be adjusted, including a setting that allows for one-pedal driving.

Charging is handled by an 11kW AC onboard charger, while DC fast charging is supported at up to 60kW. Air suspension and rear-axle steering come as standard.

The Maybach S 580e is Mercedes-Benz’s third plug-in hybrid model in India, following the updated S-Class and AMG E 53 Hybrid.

2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class: Design And Features

The Maybach S-Class gets the facelifted S-Class design, including a grille that is 20 percent larger than before. It is framed by LED lighting and topped by an illuminated Mercedes star on the bonnet.

Maybach’s signature vertical grille slats remain, while an illuminated Maybach wordmark sits above them. The larger headlamps feature the latest version of Mercedes-Benz’s Digital Light system, along with three-pointed star-shaped daytime running lights.

The Maybach also gets rose gold detailing with the Maybach logo, replacing the blue accents used on the regular S-Class. At 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class, the Maybach offers even more room for its rear passengers.

The luxury sedan rides on 20-inch forged alloy wheels featuring a counterweighted Mercedes logo that stays upright as the wheels rotate. The Maybach logo on the D-pillar is illuminated, while the rear gets tail-lamps with Mercedes-Benz’s triple three-pointed star LED signature.

Four-Seat Maybach Cabin

Inside, the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is offered exclusively with a four-seat layout. The rear gets executive seats and a full-length business console, with the seats reclining up to 43 degrees compared with 38 degrees in the regular S-Class.

The rear seats are heated, ventilated and equipped with massage functions. Rear Comfort Package Plus comes as standard and adds fold-out tables, wireless charging pads, ambient lighting for the rear compartment and temperature-controlled cup holders.

Mercedes-Benz has also replaced the earlier tablet-style controller with two individual smartphone-style remotes for operating various rear-seat functions.

Up front, the dashboard layout remains largely similar to the regular S-Class. The MBUX Superscreen combines the central infotainment display with a passenger screen that includes a privacy function. The driver gets a free-standing 3D display, while all the screens feature Maybach-specific graphics with rose gold accents.

Other equipment includes an augmented reality head-up display and navigation system, a 31-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system and two rear entertainment screens with wireless headphones.

The cabin is finished in Maybach-exclusive Nappa leather in crystal white and silver grey pearl. Other highlights include Manufaktur piano lacquer trim, a crystal white Nappa leather Manufaktur roof liner and Manufaktur seat-back trim.

Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and CEO Santosh Iyer said the Maybach S 580e is aimed at customers who want the brand’s traditional luxury and exclusivity but also want the flexibility of plug-in hybrid technology. The company is also seeing growing interest in PHEVs among its high-end customers.
